I Miss My OB

I know you are thinking huh? That has to be a typo, right? Well it's not. I have gone to the same OB/GYN for almost all of my 4 children for prenatal and postnatal care. Her name is Rita. She's the greatest thing since, well, tampons. I even saw Rita when I had some trouble before I had children! That means I have been seeing her for nearly 9 years. She has been witness to some of my finest moments and some of the ugliest.
This is what makes a good OB in my opinion:

They can make jokes while giving you an exam.
They can entertain an extra kid with a speculum
They don't laugh when you are so hormonal and cry to them
They laugh when you are so hormonal and cry to them
They don't say anything when you didn't shave because you couldn't see
They look just as shocked as you when you are pregnant at your 6 week check-up
They don't hang up when you call them on their personal line
They give you an extra ultra-sound when you just need to SEE the baby
They love the miracle of life
They don't care when a kid barfs in the waiting room
They will check other parts on your body so you don't have to see another doc
They make you appointments with mental health when you really are crazy
They give prenatal care to rockstars and refuse to be videoed by MTV

You see about 2 1/2 to 3 years after I have a baby I have always returned to see Rita to start over again. This time I will not be returning. There will be no more babies. I am sad. That was always a fun part of being pregnant, seeing Rita every month or more. I guess I could fake something?

Maybe you could do lunch...and just pretend that you're pregnant!

Think of an excuse and then take something witty to give her to remember you by. I know you can think of something...

This is the greatest post I have ever read! I wish I felt the love that you feel for your ob! I went and saw him on Tues and it was awkward and I was making inappropriate jokes the whole time! It was nice to leave! ;)
